Does food and activity matter with diabetes?
Through the years I have seen what a big difference food and activity can have on diabetes. It is truly inspirational! Even small daily changes to your routine can make a big difference to your blood glucose levels and overall health, no matter what treatment you are taking for your diabetes.
That is why I feel strongly that everybody with diabetes should be offered the opportunity to talk to a registered diabetes dietitian. Unfortunately, this is not always possible due to NHS resourcing constraints. If you do not have access and want more support, please contact me.
Feedback from NHS staff
‘During my time working with Antoinette we worked with a group of patients to support them to gain a better understanding of how their diet affected their diabetes control. Throughout my career as a Diabetes Specialist Nurse I have witnessed patients make dietary changes, which have been more powerful than any medication. This would not have been possible if they did not have the relevant education from a specialist dietitian.
